Jan 21 2009 - 2:38pm "no personalizations"?

I can understand no pictures and no memorabilia, but no personalizations? Half the fun of an autograph is having it personalized. Couldn't you at least allow personalizations for Torre?

FROM THE YOGI BERRA MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER:

We are expecting 500 people at the signing on Feb. 3. If we allowed personalized autographs, it would be impossible to accomodate everyone in the hour Joe Torre will be here.

Jan 28 2009 - 3:14pm book signing

Can we go out and buy the book and bring it to the museum for Torre to sign?

Jan 30 2009 - 9:00am FROM YOGI BERRA MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER

Sorry, I'm afraid not. All books signed have to be purchased at the Museum--and we have sold out our inventory.

Jan 30 2009 - 9:38am book signing

I'm curious... are you basing the "Sold Out" restriction on the fact that all the books are sold out? Did you sell admissions with the books? Are you expecting everyone who bought a book to show up?

Jan 30 2009 - 10:32am why not have the author sign

why not have the author sign all the books beforehand, then come 7pm he will be able to personalize them. I know many stores who have used this idea when dealing with book signings.

Jan 30 2009 - 10:52am FROM YOGI BERRA MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER

Thank you for your suggestion regarding the author pre-signing the books to leave time for personalizations.

As the host of the event, the Museum is simply following the policy of the book publisher.

Jan 30 2009 - 11:34am FROM YOGI BERRA MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER

We are basing the "Sold Out" restriction on the fact we have sold our entire inventory of books. No one will be permitted in the Museum unless they preordered a book.

Feb 2 2009 - 3:06pm torre

why not have him spend an hour and a half. Make some new friends

Feb 2 2009 - 3:26pm FROM YOGI BERRA MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER

The Museum did not dictate the time period Joe Torre will be spending here. The publisher told us he could spend an hour and we jumped at the chance, thinking it would a wonderful opportunity for Joe's fans.

Even though we have sold out, please note that everyone who pre-ordered a book will get their book signed.

Feb 4 2009 - 9:52am Torre signing was great!

Joe Torre was very polite to everyone that i saw get a book signed (i was towards the beginning of the line). People were taking pictures of him while he was signined which didn't seem to bother him or the people around him helping out. He greeted everyone with a hello and thank you and lifted his head many times for photo's. True, there was alot of people there but he didn't start signing until 7:15pm. One of my favorite moments was when this elderly women, that was behind me, had Joe sign her book and greet her with such kind words. She looked like she just meet God! It was amazing! she came over to me right after and said to me " he spoke to me and said hello" with a look of amazement. I guess you had to be there to see her face. Thanks to Joe Torre and the Yogi Berra Museum & learning center, this little elderly ladies dream came true.
